About Laura

LAURA BRIEL SULLIVAN is a first-time author who believes that life has a soundtrack and that the best gifts are stories that find us when we need them most.

Shortlisted in the Faulkner Society Wisdom Competition, Sailing with Angels: A Poetic Tale of Grief and Grace is a love letter to the characters from her parent’s generation.

She can’t spell, loves to spin a story, laughs loudly, and splits her time between the Massachusetts and Mississippi coasts.

Her favorite words are conundrum, oxymoron, and kerfuffle.

  • Sailing with Alligators: A Poetic Tale of Grit and Gumption

She had let down her guard for a grin lined with teeth, gave secrets to glitter that schemed underneath. But she learned to move with the push, not react to the blow. To spin pain to rhythm, like zydeco’s flow.

  • Sailing with Anglers: A Poetic Tale for Graduations and Growth

Some fish to feed, some fish to dream, to find what’s real in life’s wide stream. With reel or net, with luck or lore, anglers cast from every shore.

  • William Hamilton Finds a Home

Once upon a time, not on an island, and not on a bayou, but on a busy river bend in the heart of Christmas, there lived a small bear on a Bloomingdale’s shop shelf. His red sweater itched something awful, as did his itch to find a family.
